Rhetoric and Reality: Corporate Social Responsibility in Europe „Rhetoric and Realities – Analysing Corporate Social Responsibility in Europe” (RARE) war ein dreijähriges Forschungsprojekt innerhalb des europäischen 6. Forschungsrahmenprogramms, das im Juli 2007 auslief. Ziel des Projekts war es, zur Entwicklung eines europäischen Ansatzes sozialer und ökologischer Unternehmensverantwortung (auf englisch: Corporate Social Responsibility/ CSR) beizutragen. Das Projekt zielte darauf ab, ein besseres Verständnis der Wirksamkeit von CSR als Politikinstrument zu fördern und zu ermitteln, wie CSR eine nachhaltige Entwicklung der EU unterstützen kann. Unter Leitung des Öko-Institutes wurde das Projekt von einem interdisziplinären Team von 16 WissenschaftlernInnen und BeraternInnen durchgeführt, die sieben führenden Forschungseinrichtungen in der EU angehören. 2008 erschien eine Buchpublikation mit den Projektergebnissen bei Edward Elgar.
