Securing Raw Materials for Europe 2026

Access to raw materials has once again become a key focus of global attention. But where does Europe stand? How resilient are our supply chains, what strategic options do we have, and what opportunities arise from technological developments, new deposits, recycling, and research?

Bringing together professional societies, universities, and industry, the symposium will address political framework conditions in Europe, North America, and China, future raw material demand and supply, industry best practices, as well as new developments in mining and recycling. There will also be ample opportunity for discussion, networking, and personal exchange.

For this new edition, we have deliberately chosen Frankfurt am Main as a central and internationally accessible location. The DECHEMA House can be reached in approximately 20 minutes from Frankfurt Airport and around 10 minutes from the main railway station – providing ideal conditions for participants from Germany and abroad.

Dr. Mathias Buchert (Öko-Institut) will contribute with a lecture on “Material Cycles for Traction Batteries”.
