New objective and necessary increase in ambition for EU climate protection by 2040

In this project, ideas and proposals for an ambitious EU-wide goal for 2040 are formulated, with sector contributions and sector goals also being discussed and, if necessary, formulated.

In addition, implementation measures and adjustments to current EU legislation are analyzed and concrete ideas for the design of instruments are formulated.

With various publication formats and the organization of workshops, a broad EU-wide debate is to be initiated in which civil society, business, member states and EU institutions are involved at an early stage.

To this end, discussions will be stimulated in eleven selected EU member states, including through workshops.
