If arriving by train at the main station (Hauptbahnhof), take the No. 3 tram (Stadtbahn) towards Vauban. After about 15 minutes, you will reach the stop at Paula-Modersohn-Platz. Exit the tram here, cross Merzhauser Strasse and walk back about 200 metres in the direction you came from. The Institute's offices are located at the end of the Sonnenschiff building at 173 Merzhauser Strasse.

By bike

At the main station (Hauptbahnhof), there are several bike hire stations operated by Frelo, Freiburg’s bike sharing scheme. Information on prices and locations where bikes are currently available can be found here: https://www.frelo-freiburg.de/de/. There is another bike hire station at Studentendorf Vauban opposite the Oeko-Institut, where bikes can be handed back.

The distance from the main station to the Oeko-Institut is 2.9 km. From Wentzinger Strasse, turn left onto Wiwili Bridge and then turn right into Wilhelmstrasse. Then turn left into Schnewlinstrasse. Continue along this road to the Oeko-Institut. Schnewlintrasse becomes Heinrich-von-Stephan-Strasse, which leads into Merzhauser Strasse. When you reach Elly-Knapp-Strasse, you will see the Oeko-Institut on the opposite side of the street.

If you do travel by car …

If travelling by car, take the A5 and leave the motorway at the Freiburg-Mitte exit. Take the B31a towards Freiburg city centre (Stadtmitte).
