Access Denied: Transport Poverty in Europe
The main objective of the study is to determine the extent of transport poverty in Europe and to develop policy measures to address this issue. To this end, eleven key transport poverty indicators have been calculated and analysed, covering up to 33 European countries – including all EU Member States. These include a number of new indicators designed to fill data gaps relating to local public transport. The results reveal significant differences between countries, regions and social groups. Based on the findings, recommendations for action are presented, which serve as guidelines for the development of a socially inclusive and climate-friendly transport system.
