Legal Admissibility and Consequences of a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism in the European ETS

The project examines the legal admissibility, and in particular the admissibility under public international economic law, of a CO2 border adjustment mechanism in the EU ETS. The Öko-Institut examines potential national and international standards for monitoring, control and verification of emissions produced abroad and discusses their advantages and disadvantages from a practical perspective as well as from the perspective of public international law.
