Professional Training and Career

David Ritter studied Electrical Engineering and Information Technology with emphasis on renewable energies at the University of Karlsruhe. Before he joined Oeko-Institut, he worked for a research and consulting firm in the field of smart grids and innovative power products. In May 2012 he started to work at the Freiburg branch of the Oeko-Institut’s Energy and Climate Division. As senior researcher he works on expansion strategies and financing options for renewable energies in the electricity sector, data and scenario analyses of the German and European electricity systems, and he develops and evaluates scenarios for the transformation of the electricity system.
