Support to the EEA LULUCF emission inventory improvement activity

The project provides support to EU Member States to further upgrade and improve their GHG inventories to be fit for purpose for target compliance under the LULUCF regulation. To achieve that goal, the project team reviews currently applied methodologies and analyses the different approaches and data sets, including the role of electronic databases, GIS, EO data and services. The project team undertakes a comprehensive gap analysis of inventory methodologies related to the LULUCF regulation and the governance regulation. Moreover, the project explores and documents what synergies the LULUCF inventories may offer of monitoring progress of specific, related targets proposed by the Nature Restoration legislation and vice versa and what considerations can be carried out to ensure coherence and complementarity in the implementation.
