Support for the development of technical corrections of forest reference levels

The Forest Reference Level (FRL) constitutes a central element for accounting of for emissions and removals from managed forests during the period 2021-2025 under Regulation (EU) 2018/841. The FRL is built on historic data of GHG emissions and removals. Technical correction (TC) is an adjustment to the FRL to ensure methodological consistency between the FRL and the estimates of actual GHG emissions and removals.

The project assists EEA in supporting Member States to develop technical corrections to the FRLs in four tasks:

· Task 1: Preparation of a survey for the collection of potential issues for technical correction that require guidance

· Task 2: Preparation of a draft guidance document that Member States can use when developing and submitting TC.

· Task 3: Supporting the conduction of a two half days hybrid workshop on TC in Copenhagen.

· Task 4: Preparation of the final guidance document on the basis of the workshop results, including a template that MS can use when submitting information for the technical corrections.
