Solution-based liberalisation and reintegration of functional battery materials from battery-cell manufacturing production scrap

The LIBERATION project addresses the urgent recycling problem of production scrap from lithium-ion battery production. Currently, these materials are recycled in Europe at low quality and with high losses. In addition, the available capacities in the market are not at all prepared for the dynamic volume growth of the next few years that will accompany the ramp-up of the European cell factories. On the basis of successfully conducted preliminary investigations, the coordinated partners propose a new, differentiated processing path for the most important production waste streams, anode and cathode scrap.
