Joint implementation of the 2030-Agenda / SDGs and the Paris Agreement

Three landmark international policies were adopted in 2015: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement on climate change and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Reduction.

How can an ambitious implementation of these processes be strengthened? One approach is to make better use of the synergies and "co-benefits" between the policies and to intensify coordination and cooperation between the processes.

Against this background, the project pursues the following objectives:

  • Analysing synergies between the SDG process, the Paris Agreement and the Sendai Framework. For this purpose, promising co-benefit approaches as well as challenges will be identified;
  • Identifying elements for sustainable adaptation pathways and the design of transformative climate adaptation that can be useful for the joint implementation of SDGs and the Paris Agreement;
  • Supporting the debates in the run-up to the High Level Political Forum 2021;
  • Strengthening promising approaches for the joint implementation of SDGs and the Paris Agreement.
