Elaboration of a concept for the cumulative environmental exposure assessment of biocides

Research and development project 360 04 030: The aim of the project is to develop a concept for cumulative environ-mental exposure assessment of biocides. The project sees its role as that of a feasibility study on the technical implementation of article 10(1) of the biocides directive. In addition to a documentation of important technical terms, existing guidelines for assessing the cumulative exposure from other legal regulatory areas should first be evaluated and reviewed with regard to their suitability for biocides. In addition, ranges of application for which the cumulative exposure assessment might be relevant should be identified. Proposals for a technical implementation of the cumulative exposure assessment in the handling of biocides should be developed and tabled to the EU with a view to its medium-term implementation, thus paving the way for a harmonized approach throughout the EU.
