Creating an open dialogue on 'sustainable school catering'

The overall aim of the project was to encourage pupils to deal with the topic 'sustainable nutrition systems' and to motivate them to take an active part in a sustainable transformation of school catering.

An important research question within the framework of the project outline was how catering service providers - also in view of the existing economic conditions in the industry - succeeded both in meeting 'sustainability requirements of local authorities' and in offering attractive meals that are accepted by the pupils.

From the perspective of transformation research, first insights were are also to be gained into how young people can be persuaded to become involved in a 'sustainable transformation of nutrition systems'. Which communication ideas and formats are suitable for this? Ideally, pupils should develop their own initial ideas on how to steer and direct transformations in this thematic area in their own target group and in the desired direction.
