Consultancy for the German Federal Ministry of the Environment on greenhouse gas accounting methodologies and the design of international climate policy

As part of the research project ‘Methods for greenhouse gas accounting and shaping international climate policy,’ Oeko-Institut advised the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) from June 2005 to the end of February 2007 on various issues relating to the methodological design of the Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol. The project involved participation in the Conferences of the Parties to the UNFCCC and the Kyoto Protocol as well as in the meetings of the subsidiary bodies within the German delegation. Expert support was given to the BMU in preparing the positions of Germany and the EU on specific methodological issues.
