Franz Untersteller and Helmfried Meinel – both long-standing members of Oeko-Institut’s Committee – stepped down at the weekend. They are both expected to take on new positions within the government of the federal state of Baden Wuerttemberg (Germany): Untersteller as the elected Minister of the Environment while Meinel has been recommended as Secretary of State in the Ministry of the Environment.

Oeko-Institut’s Committee elected Dr. Barbara Praetorius as the new First Chair of the Committee at the weekend.

Oeko-Institut would like to thank its departing Committee members for their longstanding commitment to the institute’s mission and research areas. Praetorius will now continue this work. Her election as First Chair shall initially have effect up to Oeko-Institut’s next general assembly at the beginning of July 2011 where she will stand for re-election. Dorothea Michaelsen-Friedlieb, who has been a member of the Committee since 1996, will continue in her position as the Second Chair of the Committee.
