CCS – A useful climate protection measure?

What role can CCS play in climate protection?

The capture, transport and safe storage of carbon dioxide, as well as its utilisation – also known as carbon capture and storage (CCS) and carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) – are intended to support the path to climate neutrality. However, the use of this technology is the subject of heated debate due to concerns that CCS could hinder necessary climate protection efforts, as well as potential environmental impacts. What role can CCS play in effective, affordable climate protection? Where would it be sensible to use this technology? Where could CO₂ be stored in Germany? We address these questions in the latest issue of eco@work.
