Against the backdrop of slow progress in the energy transition and the challenges of meeting high levels of demand, analyzing the potential and policy framework for reducing demand through sufficiency approaches is becoming increasingly important. Over the past five years, the Energy Sufficiency Research Group (EnSu) has conducted intensive research on the intersection between energy sufficiency and issues related to modeling and integrating sufficiency into scenarios. The published works on sufficiency modeling are available on the EnSu website, and are shown in light green in the following overview as contributions to demand-side modeling in energy transition scenarios.

In the webinar, we will present the toolbox – which consists of data, models, and methods – and look forward to your questions and discussion.

Speakers: Frauke Wiese (Europa-Universität Flensburg), Johannes Thema (Wuppertal Institute), Carina Zell-Ziegler (Oeko-Institut), Alexander Kling (Wuppertal)

Moderator: Hu Shan (Tsinghua University)
