The main objective of the project is to develop strategies for sustainable forest management and timber use, taking into account expected forest development corridors. The project has four sub-objectives:

  1. Determination of scenarios for possible timber use and the resulting demand for timber raw materials based on demand developments in end-use sectors.
  2. Description of possible development corridors using model analyses of forest development under changes in wood demand, climate change, natural disturbances and policy requirements.
  3. Analysis of climate effectiveness, taking into account the carbon storage capacity of forests and wood products as well as the substitution of fossil raw materials.
  4. Analysis of possible responses in forest management and wood use, and provision of information to increase the decision-making competence of stakeholders to respond to extreme economic and ecological changes and develop adaptation and response strategies.
