A preparatory study in the context of the ecodesign directive identifying and recommending ways to improve at the design phase the environmental performance of energy using products throughout their lifecycle. The study identified namely: market characteristics for the product, the relevant environmental aspects of the product to be covered and their technical / economical potential for improvement, existing relevant legislation, self-regulation by industry and standards, needs for standards to be developed. Derivation of policy options for Implementing Measures in the context of the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Directives.
