Strengthening of soil protection and remediation of contaminated sites through revision of soil protection law (Soil Protection Act and other areas of law)

The aim of the project was to support the BMUV and UBA in the upcoming amendment of the soil protection regime in Germany (in particular the Federal Soil Protection Act (Bundesbodenschutzgesetz BBodSchG) and the Federal Soil Protection Ordinance (Bundesbodenschutzverordnung BBodSchV)). To this end, the project team prepared brief legal expert reports for 14 topic areas, including chemicals and the good ecological status of the soil. In addition, it examined further interfaces of soil protection law with soil protection-relevant provisions, e.g. in forest law, agricultural law, chemicals law. The project was interdisciplinary and also organized dialogue processes to support the amendment.
