Scientific and technical services for divisions of the Forum Airport and Region (FFR)

As part of the decision to expand Frankfurt Airport, the permanent dialogue forum "Forum Airport and Region (FFR)" was established at the same time. The dialogue between representatives of the aviation industry, the population or their representatives and the airport operator, which was introduced in the run-up to the expansion decision, was thus consolidated. The discussions centre on the effects (ecological and social) of air traffic on the Rhine-Main region. In addition to objectifying the debate, the main aim is to reduce aircraft noise pollution through the work of the expert committee on active noise abatement. Another focus of the FFR's activities is the investigation of ultra-fine particle pollution in the region and its impact on human health.

In its role as scientific advisor, the Öko-Institut provides comprehensive support for the process, both technically and strategically.
