Requirements and certification schemes for renewable plant-based raw materials intended for material use – analysis and reference in the Blue Angel eco-label

The project provides an overview of the current state of play regarding the use of plant-based biomass in products, as well as the nature and origin of this biomass and any relevant policy objectives and regulatory frameworks. At the heart of the project is the environmental and social assessment of certification schemes for the cultivation and extraction of renewable plant-based raw materials for material use, as well as an evaluation of their effectiveness in relation to selected key areas (e.g. climate impact and biodiversity). The findings from this process will be translated into practical recommendations for the further development of the Blue Angel.
