Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin Certification Project (RE-GO)

The project aims to support EU member states in introducing a Guarantee of Origin (GO) for electricity from renewable sources. As well as providing scientific monitoring of the legal implementation into national law, the project will identify problems arising during the first months of the introduction phase and propose solutions. A key challenge will be adapting the GO to the existing energy policy framework of the member states, particularly with regard to the design of national support instruments for renewable energies. Therefore, the RE-GO project also aims to analyse the interactions between the GO for electricity from renewable energies and other energy policy instruments, such as support programmes or emissions trading, and to develop proposals on how the GO can be meaningfully integrated into the existing network of European and national energy policies.
