Preparation and implementation of a competition on the future of sustainable mobility on behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment

As part of this project, a competition on the topic of "The Future of Sustainable Mobility" is being prepared and carried out by the Öko-Institut together with IFOK GmbH. With this competition, the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) would like to actively address this topic and support municipalities and regional actors in developing the future of mobility against the background of developments in their city, visualizing this and working out concrete steps for action in as practical a manner as possible and in a multi-stage and collaborative process. The competition is intended to award prizes to those entries that make a concrete contribution to the sustainable design of mobility in the future. Care should be taken to ensure that these are not one-off solutions, but that the concepts presented are transferable to other municipalities, which can derive their own ideas from them. In addition, the concepts should be economically feasible and offer a real alternative to conventional and already known mobility concepts. To ensure that the competition actually stimulates the development and implementation of further projects, attention should be drawn to the results after the actual competition, e.g. through a structured presentation of all competition entries. This can then serve as a stimulus for other municipalities and as a basis for further research or model projects.
