Policy instruments to promote packaging reduction in Malaysia and Thailand

The overarching goal of Oeko-Institut's activities in Asia is to contribute to the promotion of sustainable consumption and production (SCP) patterns in Thailand and Malaysia. This is achieved by identifying, developing and implementing measures in the area of plastic packaging reduction. To this end, Oeko-Institut works closely with local partners, such as political decision-makers, authorities, companies and scientific institutions, and supports them in the implementation of measures. A particular focus of the cooperation is on advising on the implementation of ecodesign and extended producer responsibility in Malaysia and a deposit system for packaging in Thailand. This is the continuation of a project in which these key topics were prioritised for further work.
