Implementing the 2030 Agenda through Urban Development at the Local Level

The project "Implementing the 2030 Agenda through Urban Development at the Local Level" aims to strengthen reporting on the Sustainable Development Goals at the local level. More and more cities, municipalities and regional governments are allowing Voluntary Local Reviews (VLRs) to monitor and report on progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). VLRs are by no means an end in themselves, but are powerful instruments for localizing the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), activating actors and establishing direct access to affected population groups. The research project identifies optimization possibilities for the reporting process (data management) as well as for the qualitative improvement of the VLRs themselves.

Based on a literature analysis, selected municipalities will be advised on the development of VLRs according to specific criteria. A central role in the project is also played by various events for communication between the municipalities as well as at national and international level and suitable dialog formats for this.
