Further development of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) surcharge calculator (2018)

Based on the Renewable Energy Sources Act a surcharge is added to electricity sold. The level of the surcharge has been the topic of intense political debates; this project aims at providing in-depth information to the public in order to substantiate the debate.

The calculating tool is published on the website and enables policy makers, journalists and interested public to calculate the level of future surcharges depending on a range of choices e.g. concerning the speed of renewables deployment, the definition of feed-in tariffs and the extent of industry exemptions.
