Framework conditions and procedures for homeowners to carry out a low-threshold self-assessment of their existing building with regard to heat pump suitability and dimensioning to accelerate the heat transition in single-family homes

In the project, a low-threshold procedure is being developed and trialled in a ‘large’ field test with several hundred participants, which will enable owners of single-family homes to test the suitability of their building for heating with a heat pump themselves.

Specifically, owners should be able to check the suitability of their homes for heat pumps by lowering the flow temperature of their boilers to 55 °C during the heating period. If the suitability is not (yet) given, they should be able to use suitable tools to determine for themselves where there may still be a need for action (e.g. radiator replacement).

In this way, the project contributes to objectifying the discussion on the suitability of heat pumps for buildings and to increasing the motivation of owners in favour of heat pumps and further accelerating the roll-out of heat pumps
