EU: Nuclear Power in Liberalised EU Energy Markets

The objective of the current study is to support the European Commission by conducting a thorough analysis of the economics of nuclear power, based on recent research findings. It provides an outlook on the role of nuclear energy in the EU, with a focus on the current status and performance of installations across the entire nuclear fuel cycle. Oeko-Institut is contributing to the project by providing a comprehensive overview of decommissioning and waste management strategies for radioactive waste in EU Member States. This includes information on associated costs, financing mechanisms, and long-term liabilities within the context of liberalised energy markets.
