ESPR Preparatory Study, Impact Assessment and EU Ecolabel Criteria Revision on Furniture

The aim of the preliminary study on furniture is to assess the feasibility of potential requirements under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) for this product group (e.g. ecodesign requirements, information requirements and potential minimum criteria for public procurement). The study also examines potential environmental improvements across the life cycle, including relevant circular economy aspects (such as durability, reparability, disassemblability, component interchangeability and upgradeability). The results provide the technical basis for deriving policy options, which will be analysed in a subsequent impact assessment. In addition, this project will revise the EU Ecolabel criteria for furniture.
