Environmental and flora fauna habitats' impact within the context of the permitting procedure pursuant to Article 7 para. 3 of the German Atomic Energy Act for the dismantling of the experimental nuclear reactor AVR in Jülich

The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Versuchsreaktor GmbH (AVR GmbH) has applied to the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia for a licence to completely dismantle the AVR experimental nuclear power plant (AVR).

The safety report, the environmental impact assessment (EIA) and the brief description were submitted as application documents in accordance with Section 3 AtVfV. Further documents were subsequently submitted for review by the experts in accordance with Section 3 of the Nuclear Licensing Procedure Ordinance. The documents used for this report are cited in the individual chapters.

In a contract dated 21 July 2005, the Öko-Institut e.V. was commissioned by the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia to assess the environmental and FFH compatibility as part of the licensing procedure.

According to this commission, the assessment is to be carried out on the basis of the documents to be submitted by the applicant in accordance with the "Framework Directive on the Design of Expert Reports in Nuclear Licensing Administrative Proceedings".
