Energy and climate protection scenarios for 2030

In the course of this project, energy and climate protection scenarios are developed for the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. The reference scenario is based on the target of the German Federal Climate Change Act to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 90 % by 2050 compared to 1990. In addition to this, possible emission development pathways are determined for the sectors up to 2030. From the sectoral pathways, a greenhouse gas reduction target for the overall economy of Baden-Württemberg by 2030 is derived. Building on the development pathways, the economic effects of the climate action pathways are explained, with a focus on the overall economic costs and benefits. In addition, the competitive opportunities that companies in BW have in a global economy that is moving towards greenhouse gas neutrality are analysed. Finally, concrete recommendations for action are made for robust greenhouse gas reduction strategies by means of which BW’s government can achieve these goals.
