Contextualising behavioural change in energy programmes involving intermediaries and policymaking organizations working towards changing BEHAVIOUR

The CHANGING BEHAVIOUR project supports policymakers and practitioners by developing and applying a deeper understanding of how context, timing, and actors influence behavioural change. Its core output is the MECHanisms toolkit, which offers a theoretically grounded yet practical model for managing social and technical change in energy demand programmes and enables the adaptation of best practices across countries. The project bridges conventional techno-economic approaches with sociological perspectives, viewing behavioural change as a socially embedded process. Combining academic research with real-world experience through participatory and practice-oriented methods, the project integrates theoretical insights with practical application. This strategy is implemented through close cooperation between researchers and practitioners, with findings tested and reflected upon in real-life settings.
