Comparison of options for the disposal of low and intermediate level radioactive waste

The objective of this project is to provide the Austrian Waste Management Advisory Board with a generally understandable presentation of existing disposal options (deep geological disposal, near-surface disposal, surface disposal, borehole disposal) for low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste, including a comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of the respective options and an estimate of the respective costs. The presentation also addresses possible international formats as well as uncertainties.
