Climate-neutral building stock 2050

The project aims to develop strategies to make the German building stock virtually climate-neutral by 2050. At the level of individual buildings, technical modernisation options and their economic impact are being analysed. At the level of the entire building stock, various target scenarios are being developed to reduce non-renewable primary energy demand by at least 80% compared to 2008. These scenarios differ in terms of final energy demand and the composition of the energy mix, particularly the proportion of renewable energies. Based on this, possible transformation paths are developed and their interactions with the energy system as a whole are analysed.
