From international climate protection to carbon footprinting, the newly published Öko-Institut leaflet gives a valuable insight into the work and methods of the leading environmental research institute. Readers are introduced to the kinds of issues addressed by the institute’s scientists. The newly designed information leaflet is now available online, while the printed version, if required, can be ordered at redaktion(at)oeko.de.

The Öko-Institut is committed to realizing the vision of a way of life that is environmentally and social sustainable throughout the world. Each year, Öko-Institut scientists are involved in some 100 projects at both national and international level. Taking four examples related to the themes of consumption patterns, resources, climate and companies, the leaflet describes some specific projects the institute is working on. The Product Carbon Footprint project, for example, is exploring how to draw up greenhouse gas inventories for products and services. In collaboration with selected companies and other partners the Öko-Institut has set itself the goal of working out an internationally standardized method for capturing the carbon footprint. The other examples present our work on the Clean Development Mechanism, the EcoTopTen consumer information campaign, and the recycling of used cars in Africa.
