Transition to a Green Economy: Necessary structural changes for and enablers of a viable implementation in Germany

The project analyses the necessary structural changes for and the enablers of a viable transition towards a Green Economy in Germany. Firstly, a review is conducted on national and international Green Economy strategies and measures, taking into account the maturity of their implementation. Promising approaches will be explored with regard to their transferrability to Germany. In a second step, systemic barriers of a transition towards a Green Economy will be identified and analysed. Building on this, institutional approaches and instruments will be screened and developed for accelerating the implementation of a Green Economy within Germany. Also, an analysis of capacity building needs is conducted with regard to this transition. As a fourth project focus, the market potentials as well as environmental relief potentials and employment effects of green services are estimated.
