Sufficiency in everyday life – concept, necessity, potentials, and political steering options

The goal of the project is to compile and process existing knowledge on sufficiency and to launch an internal debate with the goal of preparing further activities (especially acquisitions). In Module 1, the current stand of research and discussion is presented, the potential for reduction through various changes in behaviors is analysed, and the most promising methods are identified. An expansive internal debate on the necessity and possibilities of sufficiency is also conducted in this module. The scientific interest of Module II lies in the potential of governance and the restriction of private consumption in terms of sufficiency, and with it the relationship between the state and the public on areas of tension including sustainability and individual freedom. Lastly, political instruments intended to promote sufficiency within various areas of need are identified, analysed and developed.
