Simulation Calculations for the Conversion of FRM-II

Unterauftrag zum Vorhaben 4718R01321, Entwicklung von Bewertungsmethoden für Umrüstungsstrategien bei Forschungsreaktoren von HEU auf LEU Brennstoff (AP1)

The Gesellschaft für Anlagen- und Reaktorsicherheit (GRS) mbH is conducting a research project to investigate the safety aspects of the conversion of research reactors from Highly Enriched Uranium (HEU) to Low Enriched Uranium (LEU) (4718R01321). A The focus of the investigations is the development of evaluation methods for compact cores, as they are currently used, for example, in the Munich Research Reactor (FRM-II). The project comprises various working points. One of the working points concerns "Analyses of the stationary neutron physical behaviour" and therein a parameter study on the influences of Boundary conditions on reactor parameters with regard to various potential options for the conversion of the reactor. This part of the work is subcontracted by the OEko-Institut is performed. The work shall reflect the views and opinions of the contractor and must do not agree with the opinion of the client.
