Screening of the safety requirements of the final repository Konrad according to the current state of science and technology (ÜsiKo): Review of Phase 1 "Determination of the need for screening"
In 2002 the final repository for low and intermediate level waste "Konrad" was granted project approval. 16 years later the safety requirements are subject to screening according to the current state of science and technology (ÜsiKo). The topics considered in ÜsiKo are "long-term safety of the repository", "incident analyses", "operation as planned" and "subcriticality during operation". For reasons of quality assurance the outcome of the screening is peer-reviewed by a team of acknowledged experts. Besides Christian Küppers of OEko-Institut these are Prof. Dr. Klaus-Jürgen Röhlig of Clausthal University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Clemens Walther of Leibniz University Hannover and Prof. Dr. Thorsten Schäfer of Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
