Plant specific safety review of Geman nuclear power plants after the accident in the Japanese Fukushima NPP

Following the accident in the Japanese Fukushima NPP the German Reactor Safety Commission (RSK) was instructed to perform a safety review of the German NPP. The RSK provided a set of requirements for the safety review. Information provided by the operators were evaluated according to the RSK-requirements by different expert teams (subjects: natural and man-made external impacts, preventive design measures, system technology BWR/PWR, emergency response, verification methods). The Oeko-Institute was involved in this expert teams. The results of the evaluation became basis for the statement of the RSK "Plant-specific safety review (RSK-SÜ) of German nuclear power plants in the light of the events in Fukushima-1 (Japan)" (437. RSK meeting).
