Fukushima status quo and the effectiveness of the taken and planed measures towards radiological safety at the site

The project provides back-ground information on the current Fukushima power plant decommissioning: knowledge state about the targets and the work progress, the inventories, the unresolved issues and hazards; facility’s current state and conditions regarding the inventory, contaminations of several compartments and water in relation to the waste management are considered. As the relevant resources describing the issues being investigated in this study, the operator`s "Research & Development" Roadmaps (TEPCO) with their actualizations and Prompt reports on fulfilled tasks and the TEPCO’s Progress on unresolved issues were analysed. Further, the reporting of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Atomic Energy Agency reporting were used. Besides that, information was gained from independent reports dealing with several aspects of Fukushima Daiichi power plant decommissioning strategy.
