Expert support to the BMUB in the context of the National Waste Management Programme

According to the Council Directive 2011/70/Euratom the member states are obliged to develop a National Waste Management Programme, that sets out the policy and measures for the safe management of spent fuel and radioactive waste. The federal Government decided to perform a public consultation on the draft National Waste Management Program based on the Strategic Environmental Assessment process. On behalf of the BMUB the Oeko-Institut compiled the scoping study and discussed this in the scoping meeting with the affected authorities and approved environmental organisations. Based on the results the Oeko-Institut compiled the Report on the potential environmental impacts of the National Waste Management Programme. Together with the report on the National Waste Management Programme the Environmental Report was published for national and cross-border consultation.
