5 years of SDGs – Strategies for an improved implementation of the 2030-Agenda for sustainable development an the interface of health and the environment
The 5th anniversary of the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015 is the starting point for the development of further strategies and approaches for the implementation of the SDGs. In doing so, the interactions between the goals must be taken into account, among others between environment and health. Health-related environmental protection is reflected in several SDGs. Among others, it is about minimising hazards from chemicals, air, water and soil pollution, improving water quality, equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water and reducing urban pollution.
The project aims to address the nexus between environment and human health, to identify coherence and trade-offs between environmental and health SDGs, and to make the issue more tangible for key actors and the public, to align reporting at national, European and global levels, and to develop solutions to identified gaps. The project is being carried out by adelphi, the Öko-Institut and the Medical Faculty OWL of Bielefeld University.
