Regulatory experiments for the reflexive and adaptive governance of innovation
Digital workshop with Prof. Dierk Bauknecht
Date:
03/03/2021 11:00 h
- 03/03/2021 16:00 h
In the digital workshop, we aim to advance the discussion on regulatory experiments, their advantages and challenges. We will present results and recommendations based on our analysis of regulatory experiments across the globe. Further inspired by additional presentations from international experts at the workshop, we like to discuss questions like:
- When to use regulatory experiments?
- How to use regulatory experiments as a tool for policy learning and innovation?
- Which practical implementation issues of regulatory experiments need to be considered?
- How to ensure stakeholder engagement?
Moreover, we will introduce the distinction between “Regulatory Sandboxes” allowing to test socio-technical innovations by granting exemptions from certain legal requirements, and “Regulatory Innovation Trials” to test new or substantially modified policy instruments.
