abstract = {Meeting the Paris Agreement’s goals requires transformation in the mobility sector. Battery electric vehicle technology today offers a promising technology to achieve the necessary changes and transform the sector. Yet this transformation goes hand in hand with a significant increase in the raw material demand for lithium-ion batteries. This document provides an overview on the current status of the mobility sector, focusing on three selected value-chain steps for lithium-ion batteries – raw material mining, battery cell production and battery recycling – and four relevant materials: ithium, cobalt, nickel and graphite. This publication is part of a project that has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 869276.},
