Global Emission Model for Integrated Systems (GEMIS) Version 4.6

GEMIS 4.6 offers new model options, and database extensions, so that the new data cannot be used in earlier GEMIS versions. Therefore, we urge all users to use GEMIS 4.6 for any future application.
Existing data from own applications can be added to the database using menu option “File\Append project”.

The new version is now ready for download - we have updated Version 4.6 and corrected some data. Please see our information and tips under setup

What's new in GEMIS 4.6?

Modelling:

• Transport processes - the city, rural, and highway modes are now integrated into one record
• Transport processes - up to three energy inputs are possible now, e.g. to model plug-in-hybrid cars

Database extensions/updates:

• all cost and price data were converted to €₂₀₁₀
• the electricity generation mixes for all EU countries were updated (esp. GHG emissions)
• complete data from the BMU-sponsored study renewbility
• data from the BMBF-sponsored study BIOCLEAN on biogenic oils for electricity generation

Software Requirements

• GEMIS runs under all Windows versions from Windows 2000 or later

Studies and Reports

• The study "Comparison of Greenhouse-Gas Emissions and Abatement Costs of Nuclear and Alternative Energy Options from a Life-Circle Perspective" was updated  - please have a look at download
• We recommend to update any existing GEMIS data with this version!

• The  manual for GEMIS 4.5 is now available (PDF file 701 kB)
• Our  internet user directory is available (PDF file, 111 kB). We thank all users who have already registered and ask any new users to kindly register. The user directory is updated frequently.
• The English translation of the summary brochure of our "sustainable bioenergy" study sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Environment is already available here and on the website www.oeko.de/service/bio/en/index.htm (Print-version also)
